Google Breaks the 60% Market Share Barrier

Google has been the 500 pound gorilla of search for quite some time and they don’t show many signs of going on a diet anytime soon. Hitwise, long time provider of reliable online metrics, released their recurring report on the engine market status.

Bill Tancer, Hitwise General Manager of Global Research, Blogged about Google’s 60% Market Share accomplishment. While both Google and Yahoo! have shown some growth over the last month, MSN seems to have slipped a slightly.

It is interesting to note, the report clearly shows that the 3 major engines control over 94% of the entire search engine market. To me this indicate a clear an undeniable need to focus on these engines when looking for either organic or paid search engine traffic.
